Phil Rowe was hired at GW in June, 2005. Rowe comes to GW after serving as a head coach at the University of New Hampshire for the past six seasons (1999-00 through 2004-05). Prior to his stint at UNH, Rowe served as the head coach at Keene State College from 1996-99. His three-year combined record at Keene State was 43-38 which included a 41-16 record during his last two seasons (20-7 in 1998-99 and 21-9 in 1997-98). Under Rowe, the Owls won Co-Little East Conference Championship honors in 1998-99. Rowe worked with Karl Hobbs as an assistant coach at Boston University from 1990 through 1992 under head coach Bob Brown. From 1985-90, Rowe was the head coach at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, NH, where his teams combined for a 74-53 record. He also coached the PSC women's soccer team and guided the Panthers to four straight New England Championships and three NCAA Final Fours from 1986-89. A native of Exeter, NH, Rowe was named both the District Coach of the Year and the Conference Coach of the Year when he began his coaching career at New England College in Henniker, NH. He is a 1974 graduate of the Plymouth State College where he played both basketball and baseball for four years.
