At GW:
Eddie played in six rounds in his freshman campaign. The spring of his sophomore year was a break-out semester for him. He shot a career low, one-under-par 71 to lead GW at their spring break dual match at the University of New Orleans. Two weeks later he shot 74-74 at the rain shortened Princeton Invitational. He closed out the year shooting 72-77-75 at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship, helping the team to a fifth-place finish. As a junior he placed 8th at the 2007 Rehoboth Beach Invitational.

Junior, High School & Amateur Golf
Graduated from Piedmont H.S. in 2004 and spent a post-grad year at the International Junior Golf Academy. Newland finished 13th at the 2003 Northern California Junior Championship shooting, 82-76-74. He fired 75-77 at the 2005 IJGT Orange Lake Classic and finished tenth at the 2005 IJGT Daufskie Island event. Newland has worked as a counselor at the Stanford University Golf Camp. In 2005, he fired a 75 to qualify for the Northern California Amateur. He qualified again in 2006.
