Greg Munoz is entering his second season as the head coach for men's tennis at The George Washington University. He will be responsible for all aspects of the Colonials men's tennis program.
Last season, Munoz guided the GW men's tennis team to a third-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships. Under his guidance, Mustafa Gencsoy was named to the All-Conference Team. Additionally, Sam Salyer earned All-Conference second team and Academic All-Conference honors and Brandon Harris also was named to the All-Conference second team.
Munoz replaced former coach Tom Hawkins, who resigned after eight years at GW to pursue other interests. Munoz spent the previous year as a volunteer assistant for the Colonials under Hawkins.
The New Jersey native is pursuing a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University and was the assistant coach for men's tennis there in 1993-94. He also was the head girls tennis coach at Washington's Georgetown Visitation Prep School from 2000-01 and has worked with GW's men's tennis program in 1999 and again last season.
A 1992 graduate of Binghamton University, Munoz was the East Regional Senior Player of the Year and an NCAA singles qualifier from 1990-92. He was the Rolex East Doubles champion in 1991.
