Kim Staehle is in her second season as the head softball coach at The George Washington University. Staehle (pronounced "STAY-lee") came to GW from Georgetown University where she served as an assistant coach in the 2006 season, the first year of varsity softball at the school.

In her first season with the Colonials, Staehle led GW to its first-ever Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance. GW hit a single-season record 38 home runs, and finished the regular season with the league lead in fielding percentage with Staehle at the helm.

Prior to her stint at Georgetown, Staehle spent three seasons as head coach at the University of Rhode Island from 1999-2002 where her Rams compiled a record of 78-89-1. Her URI teams were twice runners-up in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament in 2001 and `02. Her first head coaching position was at St. John's University where she coached three seasons from 1996-99 and compiled a record of 53-89-1.

The East Lyme, CT, native began her coaching career as an assistant coach for two seasons at her alma mater, the University of Connecticut, and was a member of the 1995 Big East regular-season and tournament champion UConn coaching staff. She also coached for one season at Hofstra University (1995-96).

A 1993 graduate of UConn, Staehle played first base and outfield for the Huskies. UConn won consecutive Big East softball regular-season and tournament titles four straight years from 1990 through 1993 during her playing career. The `93 Huskies were NCAA Regional champions and advanced to the Women's College World Series where they finished tied for fifth in the nation.
